The Challenge
Black women and birthing people die at 4 times the rate of their white counterparts during childbirth, regardless of education and socioeconomic status.
The lived experience of racism and oppression is impacting the health outcomes of Black people generationally. We need to support those who have designed emancipatory tools, methods and spaces that enhance health and support Black life.

Health
Doulas are critical in low-income regions where there are statistically higher rates of poor birth outcomes.
With our doula scholarship we are able to support more community doulas in their quest to serve low-income communities.
Education
14,000 midwives are in the U.S and only 6% of all midwives are midwives of color.
Investing in midwifery is an effective solution, to deliver on women’s rights to sexual and reproductive health. With our midwifery scholarship, we support the education of BIPOC midwives.
Community
When a woman dies in childbirth it disrupts community and families.
Our doulas approach care from a trauma informed framework and can help to support families impacted by injustice and inequity and ground them with tools for healing and empowered village keeping.
Economic Empowerment
Birth work and healing arts in the U.S have traditionally been undervalued.
Through our partnerships we create fair-wage job opportunities for doulas and doula mentors, reproductive health educators, healers and mental health counselors.
